Artist's Description
Well it has been confirmed. The Rocky Valley Lutheran Church has collapsed. It was built in 1915 for a total cost of $437.75 and by 1945 the church was no longer holding services.
After finishing up our Yellowstone workshop this was the most important stop on my trip after.. I could have slept after the workshop but I wanted to see this place so bad. I left Yellowstone at 2:30am. It was leaning and I knew it may not last to much longer.. I made the almost 15 hour drive from Yellowstone to Dooley, Montana and arrived around 5:30pm on the 7th of July. We encountered a massive thunder and lightning storm that night that was right on top of the church. The next morning the church was still standing and I popped off a couple sunrise shots and then headed east towards North Dakota. The church collapsed just hours later. I am so thankful that I sacrificed sleep to see this beauty still standing and see her go through her final storm.

I was fortunate enough to get a shot of this old beauty, too. She wasn't leaning quite as badly. Lovely shot.
