Situated in the San Juan Mountains of South West Colorado, Upper Ice Lake sits at 12K feet above sea level. This alpine lake is the bluest you will see. I never believed the color of the water I saw in pictures until I hiked it myself. My time here was very short lived due to a massive thunder and lightning storm that had most all of us running back down the mountain looking for some kind of cover. Golf ball sized hail pounded down on us and it was a memory I will never forget.
